How to Add Page Numbers to a PDF

A document without page numbers is a minor annoyance right up until someone on a call says "go to page 14" and half the room can't tell which page that actually is because their printed copy has no numbers on it at all.

Steps

  1. Open the PDF Page Numberer and upload your file.
  2. Choose where the numbers should sit — bottom center, bottom corner, top corner — and what number to start counting from.
  3. Download the numbered file.

Why the starting number matters

If your PDF has a cover page or table of contents that shouldn't count as "page 1," starting the numbering from a different value keeps the visible page numbers matching what a reader would actually expect — a common convention is starting the main numbering at 1 on the first content page, with front matter left unnumbered or using a separate numbering scheme entirely.
