How to Change a PDF's Page Size
Letter and A4 look almost identical at a glance but aren't the same shape — US Letter is 8.5×11 inches, A4 is 210×297mm, and the ratio between width and height genuinely differs between them. A document built for one and printed on the other can end up with an odd sliver of blank margin, or content pushed uncomfortably close to an edge, because the page proportions don't quite match.

Why this matters more than it seems
This comes up constantly across borders — US-created documents default to Letter, while most of the rest of the world defaults to A4, and a document built for the wrong one can print with unexpected margins or scaling on the recipient's printer. If you know a document is headed somewhere that uses a different standard size than the one it was built with, converting ahead of time avoids that mismatch entirely rather than leaving it to whatever your printer decides to do about it.
